All you have to do to take off the safe mode on your T-Mobile G1 is
1. Turn off your phone
2. While its off hold the “menu button” and the “red power” button at the same time until your phone boots up.

Press home button an red phone button at one time while phone is off an select to reboot..
I just did what Helz said to get rid of my safe mode and it works. All my apps are in place and so are my contacts. Thanks Helz.
